Planning your job in North Kellyville
North Kellyville is one of the newer parts of the Hills, built up over the past fifteen years or so on what was once semi-rural land just north of Kellyville. Most homes are recent family houses, often on smaller lots than in the older parts of Kellyville, with some townhouses and apartments in the mix. Because the homes are new, the electrical work is mostly about additions: EV chargers, ducted air conditioning, extra power and data points, lighting and fans for alfresco areas, and security cameras.
Work around your property
Many homes here are still within the builder’s warranty period, so check what it covers before anyone changes the builder’s work. Narrow side setbacks mean the position of a charger, an outdoor unit or an external light takes some planning, and we check the switchboard’s space and the supply before adding load. North Kellyville is on Endeavour Energy’s network, about 19 km from our base in Ryde. Every job starts with a free, written quote.
Capacity for new equipment
Newer homes usually have modern wiring, so most work is about adding capacity or features, such as an EV charger, extra circuits or lighting, planned around the existing switchboard.

Your questions
Electrical questions in North Kellyville
Our North Kellyville home is only a few years old. Why might the switchboard need work before an EV charger goes in?
Builders usually fit a switchboard sized for the house as built, with few spare positions. A wall charger needs its own circuit and protection, and on a single-phase supply it has to share capacity with ducted air conditioning, cooking and hot water. Sometimes the board has room and the supply is fine; sometimes a larger enclosure, a charger with load management or a lower charging rate is the better answer. We check before quoting.
The builder’s plan left us short of power points. Can more be added to a double-storey North Kellyville home after handover?
Yes. Upstairs is usually simple, because cable can be run from the roof space. Ground-floor walls are harder to reach in a double-storey home, as the upper floor sits between them and the roof, so we look for routes through the subfloor, wall cavities or service ducts, or add points on the other side of a wall. Check your builder’s warranty first, and tell us which rooms you want changed.
How is the price worked out?
The scope, fittings, condition of the existing wiring and access all affect the price. Our cost guides give Sydney market ranges to help you budget; they are not a quote for your property. Xcel Electrical provides a free written quote explaining the agreed work and price before it starts. If testing reveals further work, we explain the options before proceeding.
What access should I arrange for the visit?
Keep the work area and switchboard accessible, tell us about parking or locked gates, and arrange entry to any rooms involved. Mention restricted ceiling or underfloor access when enquiring; you do not need to enter these spaces yourself.
Will the power need to be turned off?
Many electrical jobs require the affected circuit to be isolated while work is carried out. A switchboard job may interrupt power to the whole property. We explain the expected interruption when planning the work. Tell us about medical equipment, refrigeration, business operations or anything else that needs an uninterrupted supply so suitable arrangements can be made.
