Planning your job in the Hills District
The Hills District ranges from established family homes around Baulkham Hills, Castle Hill and West Pennant Hills to newer estates in Kellyville, Rouse Hill and Bella Vista, and acreage around Kenthurst and Annangrove.
Existing supply and new equipment
In newer homes, work is usually about adding capacity: EV chargers, extra circuits, alfresco lighting and fans, planned around the existing switchboard. Older homes more often need switchboard upgrades and safety switches.
Sheds, pumps and outbuildings
On acreage, power to sheds, pumps and outbuildings means longer cable runs, so photos of the switchboard and the distances involved help us quote.
Access and arrangements
We check the existing installation and equipment, and plan related repairs, fittings and upgrades together. Let us know which rooms will be occupied, how tenants can provide access and any business hours to work around.

Your questions
Electrical questions in the Hills District
We've built a new home in the Hills District. What electrical work do new homes usually need?
Newer homes in estates around Kellyville, Box Hill and Rouse Hill usually have modern switchboards, so the work is often about adding what the builder didn't include: an EV charger, extra power points, outdoor and garden lighting, ceiling fans or data points. We check the switchboard's spare capacity and your supply before adding a large load.
Do you work in the Hills District's larger acreage and semi-rural properties?
Yes. On acreage we often work on sheds, outbuildings, pumps and long outdoor cable runs, as well as the house. Travel time is longer than in Ryde, so for an emergency we give you an arrival estimate when you call.
How is the price worked out?
The scope, fittings, condition of the existing wiring and access all affect the price. Our cost guides give Sydney market ranges to help you budget; they are not a quote for your property. Xcel Electrical provides a free written quote explaining the agreed work and price before it starts. If testing reveals further work, we explain the options before proceeding.
What access should I arrange for the visit?
Keep the work area and switchboard accessible, tell us about parking or locked gates, and arrange entry to any rooms involved. Mention restricted ceiling or underfloor access when enquiring; you do not need to enter these spaces yourself.
Will the power need to be turned off?
Many electrical jobs require the affected circuit to be isolated while work is carried out. A switchboard job may interrupt power to the whole property. We explain the expected interruption when planning the work. Tell us about medical equipment, refrigeration, business operations or anything else that needs an uninterrupted supply so suitable arrangements can be made.
