These are planning ranges from published trade sources, not Xcel Electrical prices or a guarantee that every job falls within a range. All amounts are in Australian dollars. Your written quote confirms the scope, equipment, labour, exclusions and GST before work starts.

A practical example
Mounting a TV on plasterboard
The $250–$450 rounded reference spans standard fixed and swivel bracket packages. Confirm the TV weight, fixing locations and cable path before drilling. Adding a power point behind the screen is a separate electrical job; do not assume it is included because a package mentions cable concealment.
An example scope for planning, not a completed Xcel job or a quotation.
What changes the cost?
Wall and screen
Screen size, weight, bracket movement and the wall structure determine the fixings. A full-motion arm puts different loads on a wall from a fixed mount.
Cable concealment
A clear plasterboard cavity may allow cable concealment. Masonry, fire-rated walls and inaccessible cavities can require a different route or visible conduit.
Before you arrange the work
Position before drilling
Agree viewing height, furniture position, cable exits and access to sockets. Check the bracket can support the screen without blocking connections.
Power behind the TV
A new power point is electrical work and needs its own agreed scope. Do not run ordinary mains extension leads through the wall as a substitute.
Sources and how to use these figures
We checked the linked published prices on 21 October 2026. Where a source explicitly excludes GST, the figures here add 10%. Where GST is not stated, the table says so. Some references cover NSW generally or a specific Sydney suburb; their scope is identified below. Any rounding is explained with the source. These are sourced ranges, not a statistically measured market average or a maximum price for complex work.
- Jd’s Electrical — TV mounting packages — Fixed and swivel bracket packages across two screen-size groups, converted from excluding GST. The combined span is rounded outwards to the nearest fifty dollars for a planning range.
- Solus Spark — Sydney electrician cost guide — Published Sydney ranges, including GST. Equipment exclusions are retained.

Common questions
Is my existing bracket suitable?
Confirm its rating, compatibility and condition. Having a bracket does not establish that it can safely support the TV on the chosen wall.
Are patching and painting included?
Usually they need to be agreed separately. Ask whether the quote includes making good any holes or surface changes.
Why is the published mounting range rounded?
It is a planning band across standard fixed and swivel packages, not a cents-precise quote. Screen size, bracket choice, wall structure and cable access still need to be matched to the actual job.
