These are planning ranges from published trade sources, not Xcel Electrical prices or a guarantee that every job falls within a range. All amounts are in Australian dollars. Your written quote confirms the scope, equipment, labour, exclusions and GST before work starts.

A practical example
Covering the entrances to a home
The $1,800–$3,500 reference covers a mid-range four-to-six-camera wired system. Map the door, driveway and side access before deciding the camera count. Compare recorder capacity, storage, night-time image quality and cable access, then ask for account handover and app setup to be stated in the quote.
An example scope for planning, not a completed Xcel job or a quotation.
What changes the cost?
Coverage before camera count
Identify the entrances and areas to monitor, then choose lens, resolution and positions. Four cameras covering the wrong angles do not solve the same problem as a designed layout.
Recording and access
Recorder channels, drive capacity and remote viewing affect the equipment. Ask whether app setup and any recurring subscription are included.
Before you arrange the work
Useful images
Avoid glare and backlighting where possible and consider night-time illumination. Plan camera positions to respect neighbouring property and private spaces.
Handover
Ask for the equipment list, account ownership and an explanation of playback and retention. Keep administrator credentials secure and separate from ordinary viewing access.
Sources and how to use these figures
We checked the linked published prices on 21 October 2026. Where a source explicitly excludes GST, the figures here add 10%. Where GST is not stated, the table says so. Some references cover NSW generally or a specific Sydney suburb; their scope is identified below. Any rounding is explained with the source. These are sourced ranges, not a statistically measured market average or a maximum price for complex work.
- Security Response Sydney — installed CCTV cost guide — Sydney mid-range four-to-six-camera system, including GST, recording equipment and professional installation.
- New Spark Electrical — Sydney electrical job prices — Published excluding GST; amounts below are multiplied by 1.1. Installation scope varies by job.

Common questions
Is a low-cost wireless kit the same as a wired package?
No. Power, cabling, storage, network reliability and installation labour can differ substantially. Compare equivalent equipment and scope.
Are future cameras included?
Usually not. If expansion matters, ask about spare recorder channels, cable routes and power capacity in the original design.
Are cloud subscriptions included in the installed system range?
Do not assume so. The reference system uses local recording. Ask which features need ongoing payments, how long footage is retained and who controls the accounts.
