These are planning ranges from published trade sources, not Xcel Electrical prices or a guarantee that every job falls within a range. All amounts are in Australian dollars. Your written quote confirms the scope, equipment, labour, exclusions and GST before work starts.
Prices and what they cover
| Work | Planning range | Inclusions and limits |

A practical example
Swapping an electric oven
The $220–$440 connection range is relevant when the new appliance fits and the existing dedicated circuit is suitable. Send both model numbers and the electrical ratings. A higher-load induction cooktop can need a new circuit, so an apparently simple appliance swap should not be priced by its dimensions alone.
An example scope for planning, not a completed Xcel job or a quotation.
What changes the cost?
Appliance load
An induction cooktop can draw more power than the appliance it replaces. The circuit, protection and supply need to match the manufacturer’s requirements.
Physical fit and other trades
Cabinet cut-outs, clearances and benchtop changes are separate from the electrical connection. Replacing gas equipment also requires the appropriate gas work.
Before you arrange the work
Send the model number
Provide the existing and replacement model, a switchboard photo and the appliance location. The electrical rating matters more than the appliance’s external size.
Other appliance connections
For rangehoods or other fixed kitchen equipment, state whether there is an existing outlet or a hardwired connection. This service does not imply internal appliance repair.
Sources and how to use these figures
We checked the linked published prices on 21 October 2026. Where a source explicitly excludes GST, the figures here add 10%. Where GST is not stated, the table says so. Some references cover NSW generally or a specific Sydney suburb; their scope is identified below. Any rounding is explained with the source. These are sourced ranges, not a statistically measured market average or a maximum price for complex work.

Common questions
Can the new cooktop use the old circuit?
Only if the circuit and protection are suitable for the new appliance. This must be assessed before connection.
Does the electrical quote include removing a gas cooktop?
No. Gas disconnection and capping require a suitable gasfitter and must be arranged as a separate scope.
Can I get a connection price before buying the appliance?
The model and installation instructions help establish the likely scope. Confirm circuit suitability and any cabinetry or gas work before committing to the purchase.
