The work we do

Wired connections where you need them

Start with the devices that need a wired connection and where the router or network switch sits. We plan the fixed cable runs, outlet positions and access needed to join them. This separates the building cabling from Wi-Fi coverage, network equipment and faults with your internet provider.

  • Home network points

Run fixed cabling to desks, televisions and suitable access-point locations, with the cable route and outlet position agreed first.

  • Small office cabling

Plan workstations, meeting rooms and communications locations together, including labelling and room for future connections.

  • Cable checks and changes

Assess existing outlets and routes when a room changes use or a connection is unreliable. Cabling and internet-service faults are different problems.

Plan your budget

Data cabling installation costs

A standard Ethernet outlet has a published Sydney range of $132–$220 per point, including GST. Long or difficult cable runs, patch panels, routers and other network equipment need a separate scope.

Published market guidance, checked 21 October 2026. Xcel quotes your actual job before work starts.

Your property

Planning the work in North Willoughby

For older houses, terraces and cottages in North Willoughby, access behind walls and above ceilings matters as much as the fitting or equipment being installed.

Plan each wired connection

Solid brick walls and decorative finishes can make concealed cabling difficult. We assess roof or subfloor access and agree any surface cable covers before work starts.

Equipment and cabling

A fixed cable does not include every network device. Confirm the router, switch and Wi-Fi equipment included in the quote.

Registration and handover

Communications cabling has separate ACMA requirements. Confirm the cabler registration and applicable completion documentation for the work.

How it works

From outlet plan to tested connections

  1. Map the connection points

List the rooms and devices, locate the router or switch and assess the cable routes. Allow for the outlets you need now and any agreed future connections.

  2. Confirm cabling and equipment

Agree the cable specification, outlet count, labelling and visible conduit, if needed. The quote separates fixed cabling from routers, switches and other equipment.

  3. Check and identify each outlet

Check the installed cable runs, label the connection points and explain how they connect to your equipment. Confirm the applicable cabling completion documentation at handover.

Your questions

Data cabling and network point questions

Will data cabling increase my internet speed?

It can improve the wired connection inside the property. Your internet plan, router, connected devices and the external service still determine the speeds available.

Can you run a data point to a room away from the router?

Yes, subject to a suitable cable route and connection point. Share the router location, the room that needs an outlet and the devices you plan to connect. We agree the outlet positions and any visible cable or conduit before installation.

Does the cabling quote include a router, network switch or Wi-Fi equipment?

Only where those items are listed in the quote. Fixed cabling, network equipment and your internet service are separate parts of the setup. We clarify the equipment, connections and checks included so you know what will be ready to use at handover.

Can data cabling be installed in finished rooms?

Often, but wall construction and ceiling or underfloor access determine the route. Some rooms need surface conduit or access openings. We explain the options and confirm whether any patching or painting is excluded before work starts.

What access should I arrange for the visit?

Keep the work area and switchboard accessible, tell us about parking or locked gates, and arrange entry to any rooms involved. For an apartment or shared building, also check meter-room access, lift bookings and permitted work hours with the building manager. Confirm approval for work affecting common property.
